Cole Peterson

Join us in congratulating this CCSD alumnus, MASN Cole Peterson! Cole is a graduate of the Class of 2020. He has been selected as an Alumni Spotlight for his strength and resilience in recently being awarded a United States Navy Master at Arms!

A Master of Arms is a naval rating, someone who is responsible for law enforcement, regulating duties, security, Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) for our country's navy. This is an Army officer responsible for physical training or a member of the crew responsible for security and law enforcement. Historically, a master-at-arms was responsible for the training of soldiers during peacetime or actively involved in leading the defense of a fortification during wartime.

This is an incredible honor and we here at Corinth Central School District are very proud of you and your accomplishments!

Colin Watkins

Congratulations CHS class of 2020 alumnus, Colin Watkins, who was recently recognized on Niagra University's ROTC Instagram page for his drive, motivation, and great attitude!

Colin is studying Criminal Justice and Environmental Science while being an active member of the ROTC program! Way to make CCSD proud, Colin! We wish you continued success in your post-high school endeavors.

Fiona Wohlfarth

We have previously highlighted the accomplishments of CCSD alumna, Fiona Wohlfarth (see below) but she was just recently featured in the SUNY Adirondack fall newsletter! Follow the link to learn about all that Fiona has accomplished since graduating CHS! Way to make us proud, Fiona!

We are featuring Fiona Wohlfarth, CCSD 2011 alumna who has gone on to achieve much personal and professional success!

Following graduation, Fiona studied Engineering Science at SUNY Adirondack. She was fortunate to spend a summer doing research on a particle accelerator at Cornell University. After completing her Associate's Degree, she continued her studies at the University of Colorado Boulder where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Her current position is Test Engineer for Medtronic Neurosurgery. Fiona is a patented inventor! Her patent is for a Fluid Management System for Surgical Procedures!

She currently resides in Colorado where she pursues her hobby of singing and acting in local theater productions. 

She just recently completed a run in the role of Inga in Young Frankenstein. She also was fortunate to attend the 2018 Tony Awards in New York City.

Fiona also traveled to Puerto Rico to volunteer with a relief effort following Hurricane Maria.

Her favorite CCSD memories are of drama and music. She touts her Corinth experiences for "kick-starting her love of music and the theater."

We are very proud of Fiona Wohlfarth for all that she has accomplished as well as giving back to her community!

Diane Hoffis Muller

This week, we are featuring 1969 alumna, Diane Hoffis Muller, our Middle School Administrative Assistant.

Following graduation from CHS, Mrs. Muller earned her Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts at Adirondack Community College. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Andrew Muller, she was a stay at home mom for 16 years. Mrs. Muller has 3 grown children, Michele, Andrew and Matthew, all CCSD alumni, and 2 grandchildren, Emily and Alex.

She began her career in 1989 as the elementary school secretary. In her 30 years of service to our district, she has worked for 1 elementary principal, all 8 middle school principals and 4 superintendents! Her favorite memory of high school was keeping score for the wrestling team.

As a member of the CCSD staff, Mrs. Muller has served as a high school class adviser, Grade 8 Moving Up coordinator, proctored many extra-curricular events and volunteered for 15 years in our CMS PTSA. Mrs. Muller has also played a critical role in the success of our MIDDLE SCHOOL PBIS program. Her favorite memories of her career include taking pride in our school and bringing the best out of our children.

As part of Mrs. Muller's "retirement tour," she has been honored with a breakfast celebration for her last Administrative Assistant's Day, honorary membership in our National Junior Honor Society and had the 2018 yearbook dedicated to her. The celebrations continue with the district retirement dinner and a middle school celebration in her honor later this month.

We wish Mrs. Diane Muller good health and happiness in her retirement as she plans to spend more time traveling and visiting with family.

Jeffrey Petteys and Meghan Peterson

This week, we are giving a shout out to 2016 graduates, Jeffrey Petteys and Meghan Peterson. They recently "bumped into each other" in Paris!!! Both graduates are studying abroad right now, getting the most out of their semesters!

Meghan Peterson is a matriculated student at SUNY Oneonta majoring in Fashion and Theater. She is currently studying at the L'Institut de Gestion Sociale for fashion in Paris!
Jeff Petteys is a matriculated student at Siena College where he is majoring in French and Spanish Education. He is currently studying in Rennes, France, but making many educational treks around Europe during his semester.

Erika Hopkins Benhardt

After graduating from CCSD in 1997, Erika attended Castleton University where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Sociology. Her first teaching position was at Ludlow Elementary School. Erika went on to earn a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling from The College of New Rochelle.

Her career path landed at Long Island University where she worked as an Assistant Director of Admissions. She then moved on to Stony Brook University where she has been the Lead College Adviser for the past 10 years. Additionally, she is the coordinator for Stony Brook's National Student Exchange program, facilitating students attending other universities in the U.S., U.S. territories or Canada. Working as her assistant is another CCSD alumna, Jean Perry (2014), who will be graduating from Stony Brook in May! (Congratulations, Jean!)

Erika's fondest memories of CCSD include playing Field Hockey, Basketball (1996 Section 2 Champions!) and Track. She fondly recalls Battle of the Classes, Homecoming, her senior trip to Disney World, Prom and Chorus with Mrs. Jane Flynn. She shares that teacher/coach, Jane Barton and Counselor/Coach, Ron White inspired her post graduation endeavors.

Erika enjoys hiking, stand-up paddle boarding, camping, skiing and spending time with her family. She has 2 daughters, ages, 10 and 8, who enjoy visiting Corinth.

Erika loves her job and is proud of her Alma Mater. She encourages any CHS prospective Stony Brook students to reach out to her for information at erika.benhardt@stonybrook.edu.

Sebastian Weigand

2004 alumnus Sebastian Weigand earned his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA.

While Sebastian values his formal education, he also shares: "The best knowledge comes from doing and then teaching others to do the same. Linux administration, web design, and application development are all free things to learn (provided you have a computer). I eventually learned that you could get paid to do the things I was good at while at home. From there, staying "hungry" and "foolish" kept me curious to learn more and more about technology and its impact on society and business."

He is currently employed as a Senior Customer Solutions Engineer with Google Cloud! Sebastian has an impressive resume of experience prior to securing his position at Google. Check out his resume here: http://resume.sab.systems

Sebastian is an only child of two retired teachers. His mom is retired CCSD HS math teacher Mrs. Michele Weigand. He currently resides in New York City. 

Sebastian's favorite memory from CCSD is, "Getting to play and learn on the computers back when the library was near the main entrance! Good ol' Windows 95, and barely any computational power (I'm even in my yearbook because someone took a picture of me and my friends sitting around the computer). Then I enjoyed running Knoppix (a Linux distribution) from a CD on the machines at the school."

Sebastian's hobbies/interests include: distributed computer systems, planet-scale infrastructure, and container schedulers; coding, speaking at events, volunteering at local meetup groups, gadgets, home-theater equipment, and the occasional hiking trail.

When asked about his future plans, Sebastian responded, "I'm pretty much set. Google was my dream job, and I don't plan on leaving unless an opportunity that's truly amazing (and amazingly impactful) comes along. It's important to give back, help others succeed, and move society forward, doubly-so for underrepresented or underprivileged groups." His plans also include lots of travel, and much more philanthropy and volunteering.

Sebastian Weigand has certainly made our community proud both professionally and with his giving back to the community. 

Amy (Healy) Murray

Amy (Healy) Murray graduated from Corinth CSD in 2002 and received degrees from SUNY ACC and Brenau University. She is a group exercise instructor with the Corinth YMCA, Saratoga YMCA, Malta YMCA, and Skidmore College. Amy is AFAA Group Exercise Certified, Elite Piloxing Instructor, Zumba Fitness Instructor (multiple formats). 

When first moving away from NY to Coastal GA, Amy married career military serviceman, Mark Murray. The challenges that frequent relocation (every 2-4 years) presented inspired Amy to go back and pursue her Bachelor's Degree in Business. The move to VA brought new challenges with the most demanding of Mark's military assignments and two small children at home. This is where Amy re-discovered her love for all things fitness. She began taking classes at the local YMCA just for the simple fact they offered 2 hours of babysitting for members. 

When they were moved back to NY by the Navy, she managed to land a job doing what she loved. Amy taught Zumba classes when first hired at the Corinth YMCA, and it has grown to multiple formats of fitness classes offered at various locations throughout Saratoga County. Her specialty has become Piloxing classes, but she still offers Zumba regularly as well as Boot Camp classes, HIIT with weights, Tabata, and running groups.

The Murrays have two sons who both attend Corinth Elementary, William age 7 & Brendan age 5.

Amy's favorite memory from CCSD is the annual Battle of the Classes. "It was awesome to see our entire class come together. Nobody ever gets along 100% of the time, and people definitely have their differences and mistakes throughout high school. But, one night a year, we all united and worked side by side. The world could still use more of that."

Hobbies: "Anything that keeps me and my family active! Camping, hiking, fishing, running, cheering our children on in sports, and spending time with our Tribe (our nearest and dearest friends)." Mrs. Murray also co-founded and continues to support a running group called, "Corinth Sole Sisters" with 2001 alumna, Linda Miller, with a focus on a healthy lifestyle. She also participates in numerous "Zumbathons" to raise funds for varies causes and charities.

Future Plans: "Mark has been approved for retirement from the US Navy in July of this year. He has accepted a job offer that allows us to stay right here in Corinth. We were absolutely sold on the small town, tight knit community, with a great school for our children. We have no immediate family in the area, but friends are the family we choose, and we have the best group of friends to support us. After living all over the country we know how priceless that kind of support truly is. I personally hope to either get back to a career in human resources, or maybe start an entirely new one. I know I want a job that contributes to the greater good somehow. And, no matter what comes my way, I plan on always teaching fitness classes and running as long as physically possible."

Erin Lloyd LaBombard

This week, we are featuring 2001 alumna, Erin Lloyd LaBombard! 

Following graduation, Erin earned a bachelor's degree in psychology with minors in education and sports studies. Erin shares that she was inspired to work with students who have special needs while substituting for teaching assistants to help pay her way through college. She went on to earn her master's degree in special education and is currently employed at Schuylerville Middle School as a special education teacher.

In addition to teaching, Erin coaches varsity field hockey and girls lacrosse. This past fall, under Erin's guidance as coach, the Schuylerville Varsity Field Hockey Team won the section II title, captured the first Class C regional title for Schuylerville HS since 1997 and made it to the NYSPHSAA Final Four! Congrats to Erin and her team!

Erin's fondest CCSD memories include playing sports, including field hockey for Coach McMaster, basketball for Coach White, softball and running the sawmill for Coach Haskell. In addition, Erin loved spirit week, making class banners and participating in the Battle of the Classes. 

Erin's hobbies include yoga and running. She is a yoga instructor. She has also run in 10 Ragnar races, hoping to complete 12. 

Erin was married in 2016 and welcomed her first child, Parker Elizabeth, recently! She and her family currently reside in Schuylerville. She is excited to begin the new chapter of her life being a mom, watching her daughter, Parker, grow and discover the world. 

Congratulations to Mrs. Erin Lloyd LaBombard on achieving success and happiness after leaving CCSD!

Mrs. Lynette Jensen

This week, we are featuring CCSD alumna and CHS teacher Mrs. Lynette Jensen. Recently, high school Web Club member Nate Warrington interviewed Mrs. Jensen for this week's feature.

Mrs. Jensen graduated in 1986 and earned her bachelor's degree from St. Lawrence University in 1990. Prior to beginning a career in education, Mrs. Jensen worked for 10 years in bookkeeping and accounting. After tutoring students for CCSD, Mrs. Jensen decided to pursue a master's degree in mathematics and earned her first teaching position at Saratoga Central Catholic High School. 

Currently, not only is Mrs. Jensen our high school math teacher and department chairperson, but she advises Quiz Bowl, Cheerleading, Homework Hall and has served as the adviser for many high school classes (2011, 2014, 2017, 2020 and 2021). As a community member, she also volunteers for the Corinth Community Scholarship Committee and the All-Sports Booster Club.

Mrs. Jensen resides in Corinth with her husband, Eric (class of 1983) and has 3 children who all attend(ed) CCSD: Eric (2011), Ian (2017) and Elizabeth (2021). Her favorite memory from CCSD: "My class started homecoming. Knowing that the tradition still continues today is fulfilling."

Mrs. Jensen enjoys going to children's athletic events, golf and cooking in her free time. After retirement, she plans to buy an RV and travel the country.

"My theory on teaching is: not everyone enjoys doing math. In fact, most don't. I have to make my classroom inviting and entertaining so that students enjoy the experience and look forward to attending math class."

Shawn Lescault

After graduating from CCSD in 2004, Shawn Lescault studied at SUNY Plattsburgh and continued his education at Albany Law School where he was a magna cum laude 2015 graduate.

Shawn was the editor of the Albany Law Journal of Science and Technology at Albany Law. In addition, with partners from the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering and Albany Business School, Mr. Lescault reached the finals of the NY Business Plan Competition in the Energy/Sustainability category where his team presented a plan for Aureonic, a venture to develop high-temperature nano-sensors to detect greenhouse gas emissions in turbine engines, coal-fired power plants and other combustion environments.

Shawn's career highlights include interning with Hon. James A Murphy III in the Saratoga County District Attorney's Office, judicial intern to the Hon. David B. Korgmann, Justice of the New York State Supreme Court and associate attorney with the law firm, Carter Conboy.

Today, Shawn is Assistant District Attorney with the Saratoga County District Attorney's office. Mrs. Fay's Business Law students recently observed Shawn at work in the courthouse!

Shawn resides in Wilton with his wife, Tracy (our very own CCSD Library Media Specialist), his 4-year-old son, Tucker and his 11-month-old son, Jack.

We are proud of all that Shawn Lescault has accomplished following his education at CCSD! Wishes for continued success!

Mr. Phil Fuller and Mrs. Tina Fuller

Mrs. Tina Fuller teaches 4th grade English at Corinth Elementary School. Following her graduation from CHS in 1993, she studied at SUNY Plattsburgh at ACC. Mrs. Fuller has always fancied helping others and she never knew that she was going to end up as a teacher. With the desire to guide others, she had gone through many ideas before she had finally decided to help young children. She notes that her “Golden Rule” is, "Treat Others How They Would Like To Be Treated."

Mrs. Fuller enjoys working at the Corinth Elementary School so much that she has worked here for 21 years! With her husband right across the hall, Mrs. Fuller loves to partner teach with him and can’t wait to see where their students’ education will bring them in the future.

Mr. Phillip Fuller, a 4th grade math teacher at Corinth Elementary School, is a 1992 graduate. Following graduation, he also studied at SUNY Plattsburgh at ACC, just like Mrs. Fuller. One of his favorite memories was, when he was in kindergarten, he had gotten into some orange paint. He notes that they, “WEREN'T EVEN PAINTING!” He had continued saying that he had spilled the paint all over the carpet and made the teacher very angry. Recently, the great-granddaughter of that teacher had given him a Christmas gift. The gift was an orange lamp that had looked like orange paint had spilled out of it. He will never forget that funny time when he was younger.

He had originally moved here to teach with his wife, Mrs. Fuller. Mr. Fuller started his career of substituting in the school and now has taught at Corinth Elementary School for 19 years. Both he and Mrs. Fuller love the small town of Corinth and love that they see each other every day at work. Thank you, to Mr. and Mrs. Fuller for all that you do for our students.

Derek Briner

Derek is a member of the 2008 graduating class and son of our very own Nurse Donna Briner!
After graduation, he attended SUNY Cobleskill, majoring in Landscape Development with a goal of owning his own landscape company. After 2 years at Cobleskill and 2 years of WSWHE BOCES studying Horticulture and Landscaping, he had a change of plans. Listening to his heart, he decided that his true calling was helping others. While at SUNY Cobleskill, he earned his EMT certification and began working and volunteering as an EMT. Derek then transferred to Hudson Valley Community College to major in Para-medicine. Mr. Briner is currently employed full time for the Town of Corinth as a Paramedic along with part-time positions with Wilton EMS and West Glens Falls EMS. In addition to his career, Derek is an 11-year volunteer with the Corinth Fire Department, having earned the rank of Captain. As a member of the department, Derek has earned Advanced SCUBA certification to be part of the Dive Team. He also has earned NYS FF 1, Vehicle Extrication Technician and CPR Instructor certifications. Derek's fond memories of CCSD include playing sports and cheering for his classmates. He is also grateful for and continues to hone his Spanish skills, using the language to communicate with patients in his career. Derek Briner is a dedicated community member who can be seen supporting our students' athletic events, visiting the elementary school during Fire Prevention month, participating in our Career and College day and much more!

Mrs. Penny Skinner and Mrs. Michelle Pita

Mrs. Penny Skinner teaches 6th grade social studies at Corinth Middle School. Following her graduation from CHS in 1984, she pursued her undergraduate studies at SUNY Geneseo and her graduate studies at SUNY Plattsburgh. Her favorite memories from her CCSD days include sports and her trips to Spain and NYC. Mrs Skinner notes that the biggest change in education since her time as a student is the fact that students own the learning; they, "Lead the way instead of teachers lecturing." She enjoys working in a small school district, observing students from kindergarten, contributing to their learning and seeing where their education takes them.
Mrs. Skinner has 2 sons, Alex and Nicholas, who will be featured in upcoming alumni spotlights!!

Mrs. Michelle Pita, a high school English teacher at CHS, resides in Middle Grove with her family and is a 1994 graduate. Following graduation, she attended SUNY Adirondack and the University at Albany for her undergraduate studies and earned her Master's in Secondary Education from Saint Rose. Her favorite memories include sports and her, "amazing teachers." One of her favorite changes in education is the Project Based Learning that she shares with Mrs. Lum. She loves the small school size of CCSD and never wanted to teach anywhere else.

Nathan Woodcock

Nate is a criminal justice major at St. John's University in Queens, New York. In addition to being on the Dean's List and a member of the Honor Society of the College of Professional Studies, Nate is a stellar ROTC cadet who has numerous awards, accomplishments, and recognition. A few of his ROTC highlights include taking part in Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency program in Poland in the Summer of 2016, receiving his Parachutist Badge (Graduate of Airborne School July 2017) and Recondo Badge at ROTC Advanced Camp (August 2017), and his recognition as a
Distinguished Military Graduate for Year Group 2018 (Member of Top 10% of Cadets in the country). He looks forward to his commissioning as an Active Duty Infantry Officer in May 2018 (after graduation). 

One of Nate's fondest memories of CCSD is playing baseball under Coach Sorbera senior year with "a great group of guys and coaches." Nate is currently finishing up his senior year of college as the Cadet Battalion Commander of the St. John's Army ROTC Program. He is enjoying spending time with friends and loved ones (and waiting for the Yankees to win the World Series) before he graduates and commissions into the US Army. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve his country like those who came before him and to be a leader of some of the greatest men and women of America. Way to make CCSD proud, Nate Woodcock! Thank you for your service to our country.

Alvey Harrison

As part of our grade 8 Technology/Project-Based Learning course, Mrs. Dunbar and Mrs. Siano welcomed CHS alumnus, Alvey Harrison, as a guest speaker for the new unit on NANOTECHNOLOGY. Alvey, a 2008 graduate of CHS, is a Senior Specialist in Technical Training at Global Foundries. Global Foundaries is an international company, with a local office in Malta, NY. Harrison shared information about the company and the many different career opportunities one can gain, from a HS diploma all the way to a Ph.D. In addition, Harrison shared his career path to success, which began with incredible educational opportunities afforded him by CHS. Alvey lives in Corinth with his wife (Nikki Wendell, a CHS 2007 alumna), and their 2 children, including new baby Waverly born last week! Congratulations and a BIG THANK YOU for giving back to our school community in such a meaningful way! 

Chantz Baudoux and Taylor Lozier

From Tomahawks to Timberwolves! We love seeing our student alumni doing great things after graduation!! Congratulations to SUNY Adirondack Sophomore, Chantz Baudoux, and Freshman, Taylor Lozier, for representing Corinth with the Timberwolves this basketball season. We are proud of your dedication and hard work! We look forward to following the team for an excellent season. 

Mr. Chad Shippee

Ember Traino
