Meet the Candidates

On behalf of the League of Women Voters of Saratoga County and the Corinth Central School District, we want to invite you to attend a “Meet the Candidates” event for Corinth Central School District on May 6th at 6:00 pm in our newly refurbished auditorium at the Oak Street campusAll candidates on the ballot for School Board in Corinth Central School District have been invited to attend this event in-person (see below).  Members of the public and the media are also invited to attend. The Corinth Central School District will organize this event; however, the League of Women Voters will moderate.

This event will be live streamed, recorded and posted on the district website.  The format of the evening will include: (Times may be altered slightly depending on the number of candidates)

  • Opening remarks by the moderator

  • Each candidate will be given a chance to make an opening statement of no more than two (2) minutes

  • Members of the community will submit questions directly to the League in advance (see below)

  • Each candidate will have an opportunity to respond to every question. Response will be limited to 1 ½ minutes

  • Candidates will not directly respond to, or question, other candidates. However,

  • each candidate will be given a red card that can be utilized up to two (2) times during the Question-and-Answer period only. Each card will allow an additional time of 1 minute to add to your response or to respond to something another candidate has said

  • Candidates will be given a chance to make a one (1) minute closing statement

  • Candidates are expected to be respectful of each other and focus on the issues. No personal attacks will be allowed

The following five candidates will be seeking election for two vacant seats at our May 21st  budget vote.

Travis Bills is a graduate of Corinth Central School District and received an Associates Degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting at SUNY Adirondack.  He is currently self-employed as the owner of Upstate Audio Video.  Travis’ interests include; hunting, fishing, vacationing, and learning about new technology.  He states that his reason for serving on the board is he “believes that the students of Corinth deserve to have someone on the board that has their best interest in mind.” Travis has three children and also serves on the Corinth Youth Soccer Commission.

Eric Bush graduated from Donovan Catholic High School in New Jersey.  He received a Bachelor of Science from Johnson and Wales University.  He is currently employed with Capital Region BOCES and has two children.  Eric enjoys sailing, gaming and reading.  His reason for serving on our Board is “to help the district and community anyway possible.”

Shane Crooks has a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Empire College and an Associates Degree from SUNY Adirondack.  He recently retired as the Chief of Police at Saratoga Springs after serving 26 years in law enforcement.  Mr. Crooks’ interests include; hiking, camping, fishing, golfing and riding his motorcycle.  His community service includes serving as a volunteer fireman, coaching youth basketball, and volunteering his time for Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, and several school-related events.  Mr. Crooks' prior board service includes; the Zone Five Law Enforcement Academy, the Capital District FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and Emergency Planning Committee for Saratoga County.  Mr. Crooks states that his interest in serving the school board is because he believes “that overseeing the education of our community’s youth is one of the most important things that someone can do. I have two children in the school district and want to help make sure that we are doing all that we can to support the school district and all our children’s educations.”

Anthony T. Charoensook attended high school at Corinth and Saratoga Springs. He also attended Tampa Tech and Remington College. Anthony states that his interest in wanting to serve on the Board of Education is “to serve our children and community as every child matters.”

Krista Tangora attended Schenectady High School and received an Associates Degree from Schenectady Community College.  She is currently employed at Saratoga Hospital.  Mrs. Tangora has two children and enjoys baking, cross stitching and spending time with her family.  She is also the co-chair of the Class of 2025 parent group and has participated in bottle drives and cemetery cleanups.  Ms. Tangora states that her interest in serving the board is because she has a “vested interest in wanting to maintain the greatness for the future and possibly grandchildren's future.”
