The annual Hoops for the Holidays event, hosted by CCSD basketball players and coaches, was held on Thursday, December 5, and it once again proved to be a heartwarming success!
This cherished community tradition featured a variety of activities, including a foul shot competition for cash donations, raffles, holiday music, and countless moments of laughter and fun. One of the most anticipated highlights, the Pie-A-Teacher in the Face event, delivered its usual dose of messy excitement, leaving participants and spectators grinning ear to ear.
Beyond the fun, the event’s purpose was profound: raising funds to help brighten the holidays for families in need within the community.
A special shout-out goes to Athletic Director Hilary Haskell and Varsity Head Coach Craig Falkenbury, whose leadership and dedication bring this event to life each year. Their efforts embody the values taught through the district’s Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum, including compassion, kindness, and supporting others in times of need. These principles align with initiatives such as The Positivity Project, #ChooseKindness, and Sweethearts and Heroes, inspiring students and staff alike.
Hoops for the Holidays would not be possible without the incredible efforts of the coaches, athletes, staff, and community members who donated, participated, and supported the cause. Your contributions make a meaningful difference! Together, we continue to show the power of community, kindness, and teamwork.
