Corinth Central School District has partnered with the Saratoga Regional YMCA to provide free swim lessons and YMCA memberships to all second-grade students this spring. This exciting new program, which kicked off this week, offers a valuable opportunity for students to develop essential water safety skills while building confidence in the pool.
The seven-week program takes place at the Saratoga Springs YMCA, with each second-grade class attending on different days of the week. On the first day, students are placed into groups based on their ability levels to ensure they receive instruction tailored to their needs. For some students, this marks their very first time in a pool, making the lessons even more impactful.
The program includes free YMCA memberships for the duration of the lessons, allowing students access to all six YMCA branches in the region. Transportation is provided by the school district, ensuring that every second grader can participate during the school day.
With lessons ranging from water safety basics to advanced strokes, this initiative provides an exciting and beneficial experience for Corinth’s young learners. Families seeking more information are encouraged to contact their child’s teacher.
