Corinth Central School District’s young readers put their literary knowledge to the test at this year’s Battle of the Books competition. Representing CCSD were six dedicated sixth-grade students: Noah B., Amelia C., Ahyyyokah M., Arianna M., Calista D., and alternate Lillian R. Under the guidance of District Librarian Tracy Mack, the team spent months preparing by reading ten selected books and honing their recall skills.
The competition featured an intense first round of challenging questions. Teams had only 15 seconds to identify the correct book title from a given question, with a total of 31 questions per round. Despite the difficulty, the Corinth Riverhawks gave it their all, demonstrating their deep understanding of the stories and themes they had studied since September.
While the competition was fierce, the students walked away with an experience they’ll never forget. “It was the experience, and reading the books, not the winning or losing that mattered,” one student shared. Another added, “Now that we have gone, we can help other teams next year!” Reflecting on the fast-paced rounds, one participant simply said, “Wow! That was intense!”
The Riverhawks are already looking ahead, eager to share their insights with future teams and build upon this year’s success. Congratulations to the CCSD Battle of the Books team on their hard work and dedication!
