Congratulations to Senior, Emily Dingmon, for being selected as a Section II Scholar Athlete for CHS. Additionally, Emily was the overall recipient for the entire Adirondack League. She gave a very moving and motivational speech at the banquet on Sunday. We are so proud of you, Emily!
Additionally, our very own Coach Kelly Hoertkorn was awarded the SPORTSMANSHIP award at the banquet. How fortunate we are to have a talented, dedicated coach who models sportsmanship and all of the values that we hope that student-athletes will emulate. What a great role model! Congratulations, Coach!

Our Annual Chess Club Tournament is heating up as all first round matchups have been completed.
Noah Hollenbeck, Chase Skinner, Sam Hill, Degan Reynolds, and Vivian Frasier all moved to the quarter finals. In the quarterfinals Cooper Philo, Chase and Noah all moved on as Noah upset #1 seed Sam Nelson.
There is one more quarter final matchup left as Aidan Blanchard takes on Degan for the right and privilege to play Cooper in a semifinal matchup.
We would like to congratulate Sam Nelson on the #1 seed and regular season title with an 1870 rating, but there will be no repeat champion in the tournament this year. Thursday could be the day we crown our next Grandmaster.
Stay tuned for the final results of the Chess Club winter tournament! Go, Riverhawks!

Dear CCSD Families,
This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Humility during our Positivity Project social emotional learning lessons. Humility means you do not seek the spotlight. You let your actions speak for themselves.
Humble people have an accurate (not underestimated) sense of their abilities and achievements. They hold the capacity to acknowledge their mistakes and limitations, and are open to advice and new ideas. They do not show off their possessions or accomplishments.
Developing humility is associated with positive developmental outcomes in individuals. It allows a person to honestly reflect on their abilities and acknowledge how and where they can improve. Humility opens them up to new ideas, advice, and (consequently) abilities that pride, arrogance, or pretentiousness often block. Therefore, humility makes them desired members of a team.
To practice and encourage the character strength of humility with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2) where together you can watch a video, read a quote and talk about the answers to three questions.
Have a wonderful week!
