Our Modified Girls BB team wrapped up the 2022-23 season this evening! Here are some highlights from Coach Woodcock from tonight's game: "Congratulations to the girls modified basketball team on ending their season with a HUGE win 38-29 against Lake George at our home court. Our girls’ only loss of the season was their away game against Lake George making the final season record 13-1. This team of girls had the opportunity to face them again and they gave it their absolute all tonight, hustling up and down the court all four quarters. They played solid defense and put a lot of pressure on their opponents which led to them collectively getting several steals, blocks and forced turnovers. Offensively we did a great job as well, Makenna Eastman led the team with 14 points. Megan Smolinski had 6 points and Erika McGuire had 5 points. Coach Flint and Coach Woodcock are extremely proud of these girls and the hard work they showed this season, especially tonight. We are so happy to end the season with a win and also so proud to be 13-1. This team is a great group of girls and we truly enjoyed this season. Awesome work girls! Go Tomahawks!" Congratulations, Lady Tomahawks! We cannot wait to see you all on the court next year!

GIRLS VARSITY BB
Dear Families, This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of FORGIVENESS in our Social Emotional Learning curriculum. Forgiveness means you forgive those who have done wrong and you accept that people make mistakes. Forgiveness is the ability to move past being injured, and allow yourself to reconcile with the person who hurt you. Forgiveness can often be seen as a selfless act, but it also carries many benefits for those who practice it. Those who demonstrate forgiveness have the ability to move forward after someone has hurt them. Forgiveness is often rooted in the idea that all people are valuable and worthy of a second chance. Many who forgive have the ability to consider things from another’s perspective. The ability to reconcile differences and move forward positively is a trait of any effective group. When people work together, conflict is inevitable. However, when people value each other’s contribution and believe in the group’s goal, they become more capable of moving past conflict toward genuinely positive behavior. A group member’s willingness to forgive imperfections of both other members and the group as a whole contribute to overall success. To practice and encourage the character strength of forgiveness with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2) where together you will watch a video, read a quote and talk about the answers to three questions. Have a wonderful week!

Our Modified girls are rocking the final stretch of the basketball season. Here are some highlights from Coach Woodcock: "Congratulations to the Girls Modified Basketball team for having back to back victories Saturday against Argyle and Monday against Warrensburg, winning 25-12. Yet again they came out focused and with high intensity. Our communication was on point and we moved the ball around nicely completing the plays. Makenna Eastman led us in scoring, totaling 11 points and she also had several rebounds for us defensively. Emily Holmes, Isabella Barrett, Megan Smolinski and Erika McGuire all contributed significant points as well. Olivia Holmes played solid defense and helped to put pressure on the ball handler each time she was out on the court. The girls played as a team and supported each other on and off the court. Overall, it was another great game for them and we are super happy and proud to get the W. The next game is today, Tuesday, January 31st on our home court, starting at 5:30pm. Great job ladies, keep it up!"
