May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
Please join our CCSD Counseling Team in working together to normalize the conversations about and the need to support mental health.
We recently provided our 7-12 students with the second survey of the year to check in on both their mental and physical health, encouraging them to reach out if they need to talk to someone.
CCSD is blessed with a fantastic counseling team UPK-12! We encourage students and families to continue to reach out as we all work together to meet the needs of our students.

Our Modified Girls Softball team is on a roll, adding TWO wins to their season as they closed out last week. Read some highlights from Coach Suppes:
"Modified Softball had a very successful weekend and continued their hot start to the season. Friday night, we beat Hadley/Luzerne by a score of 22-9. The offense had another fantastic night behind the pitching from both Arabella Nichols and Greta Berrigan. Addison Berard also had her first extra base hit of the season with a hard hit triple late in the game to help secure the victory. Samantha Winslow and Lauren Rhodes also had great games as they were able to get on base and help score multiple runs for the team as well.
The team then beat Warrensburg on Saturday morning by a score of 19-8. Jen Ives pitched a complete game and had a fantastic overall game to help lead the team to victory. Piper Houser had another great all around game at both catcher and at the plate, creating scoring opportunities on multiple at bats. Makenna Eastman homered in her third straight game, and Jordyn Ives stayed hot with another extra base hit. Olivia Holmes played a great game on defense and had multiple hits and RBIs to ensure the team kept their lead.
It was a great weekend for the modified softball team! Come out and support the team during one of the final home games this week."
Congratulations, Lady River Hawks!!! Wishing you a successful end to your season!!!

Our CHS Sports Marketing class had a very special guest this week, thanks to Mrs. Fay!
Retired Professional Baseball Player, Tim Christman, recently visited our CHS Sports Marketing class this week. From Oneonta High School, Tim Christman went on to play for Siena College and eventually played pro for the Colorado Rockies as a pitcher.
Christman played for the US National Baseball Team at the 2003 World Cup in Cuba and shared countless memorable experiences with students in his athletic career.
Mr. Christman shared the characteristics that are imperative for a successful career including determination, pride in what you do, and perseverance, even when failures arise. Failure is a necessary component for growth within personal and career success, he said.
THANK YOU, Tim Christman, for sharing your time with our students! They were inspired and really connected with this real life role model.
Our CHS Sports Marketing class is taught in the distance learning lab, streaming to other area high schools as well!

Our Unified Varsity Basketball Team lost a close one this week in Queensbury! But our River Haws played a FANTASTIC game!

Our Modified Girls Softball team had a great week! The put another "W" in the book on Thursday afternoon. Here are some game highlights from Coach Suppes:
"The Modified softball team beat Whitehall in an exciting 20-15 game. Every single player managed to get on base, and contributed to the team victory! Jullianna French started the hitting for the team and played an outstanding game in the field, and closed out the game at pitcher.
Jen Ives pitched a great game as the starter, and had a key RBI double in the 5th inning.
As the game became closer, Makenna Eastman and Jordyn Ives both hit 2 run home runs to provide some insurance runs near the end of the game.
Teagan West made some great plays at first and helped complete two double plays to stop any rally from Whitehall.
Not enough good things can be said about this team. Fantastic team victory! Please come out and support the team during one of our two remaining home games next week."
Congratulations, ladies!
Please come out and cheer on our modified River Hawks!!! Have a great finish to the season ladies!!!

It was a very successful day for our Varsity Track team on a cold, rainy Saturday this past weekend as they competed in the Granville Blue and Gold Invitational! Here are some highlights from Coach Flint and Coach Torda:
"A huge congratulation to the Boys Track Team winning the Granville Invitational. Girls were equally impressive with their overall 2nd place finish. Though the weather was not very fun, the team took everything in stride and dominated in almost every event.
Some individual and relay efforts were:
Bella Craig winning the 400 Hurdles and 2nd in the 100 Hurdles
Kayden Beaver 2nd in both the 100 and 200
Abby Proctor placing in both the Long and Triple Jump
First place for the 4 x 800 team of (Alyssa Crossman, Ally Wiley, Cooper Henke, Rylee Dunbar).
On the boys side, we placed first or second in 13 out of 17 events.
Liam Hughes was 1st in both 100 and 200 and 2nd as part of our 4 x 100 relay team (Jase Brunnell, Tyler Smolinski, Colby Hanna), Ashton Tokarski (Long Jump), Colby Hanna (Triple Jump), Aiden Chase (Discus), Hunter Shanahan (3000 Steeplechase and 4 x 800 with Aiden Pettit, Isaiah Burth, Mike Petteys), Cameron Wiseman (400 Hurdles), Alex Wiseman 2nd (110 Hurdles and Triple Jump).
The coaching staff was extremely proud of the team's achievement in adverse conditions. Many of our teams had personal bests and our mixed relay team broke a school record. We are looking forward to continued success as the season progresses."
Congratulations, Mountaineers! Keep up the hard work!!!
