Corinth High School is proud to announce that Siena Pecora has received a Young Women Making a Difference Award from Soroptimist International of Saratoga County (SISC). This award is provided annually by SISC to recognize high school age girls who demonstrate a high level of volunteerism to help their communities. Siena is being honored for her work with the Corinth Unified Sports Team.

SISC is a local chapter of a global organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. This award is one of the ways we achieve this by encouraging volunteerism amongst young women particularly in ways that empower other women.

The recognition comes with a $1000 award. $500 will be awarded to our CHS Unified Sports Program in honor of Siena and she will receive $500 which Siena plans to put towards her college textbooks!

We are so proud of you, Siena!

It was a memorable night of basketball for the Varsity Girls Basketball team on Friday as they competed for the league title! Coach Hoertkorn shared game highlights:
"The Varsity girls basketball team beat a physical Hartford team for the Adirondack League Championship! It was another total team effort, and the girls really earned this win.
Whitney Cameron had 16 points, 9 assists, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds for a great all around game.
Caitlyn Crossman had one of her best games with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.
Emily Dingmon had a double double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. She was a great leader for us out there as she has been all season.
Taylor Stone also had 12 points, to go with 3 rebounds, and was a force inside guarding Hartford’s best post player, and running the floor.
Riley Dumas and Isabella Craig were also great on defense helping others keep Hartford’s shooters in check, and combining for 6 points. Isabella also had 2 steals, and 2 rebounds. Riley added 4 assists.
Sage Shanahan added 4 rebounds, and created multiple jump balls being very aggressive.
I am so proud of this team for working so hard to achieve their goals. Our next game is Monday, a non- league contest against Hudson Falls at 7pm."

Congratulations, Riverhawks! We are so proud of you! Keep it going!!

Coach Fabian shared the final post of the season for the Modified A Boys Basketball team last night:
"Congrats to the modified boys basketball A Team who wrapped up their season with a win over Granville. The team played with tremendous effort for the entire game and worked hard on both ends of the court. We put up 20 points in the first quarter and got the momentum going in right direction from the start.

Jake Hughes had a great game scoring 14 points in which many came from steals on the defensive end. Owen Shanahan followed with 8 points and continues to be a great team player on the floor. Jackson Weaver, Haydon Heil, and David Sitts had a strong showing getting multiple rebounds and dominating down low. Jamie Hughes, Micah Lewis, and Jackson Caradonna did a great job getting the ball up the court facing full court pressure for the majority of the game.

We would like to thank everyone for the support this season and look forward to years to come!"

Congratulations, Riverhawks! We look forward to seeing you all on the court again, next season! (More photos on Facebook!)

February is the National “Love The Bus” month. It is a time to share our message of safety to our students, celebrate our success, and demonstrate why we “Love The Bus.”

The American School Bus Council launched a program back in 2007 to highlight the important role of the school bus and to show appreciation for the monitors and drivers who safely transport more than 25 million children to and from school each day.

School bus transportation is one of the safest and most secure ways to transport children to and from school. Our bus drivers are dedicated to the safe transportation of our students with the most secure vehicles on the road. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, school buses are up to 70% safer than other vehicles.

February’s “Love The Bus” campaign gives our Transportation Department another opportunity to work with our students on bus safety. Our drivers and monitors will be conducting safety drills, how to cross with the driver’s signal, and explaining why it’s important to exhibit good behavior on the bus.

To add a little fun, drivers will also have student contests. Students are encouraged to color a “Love The Bus” picture for their driver or write on a card why they “Love The Bus.” The bus that submits the most pictures or cards will receive a coupon for free ice cream from the cafeteria. Be sure to encourage your child to return their coloring sheet or post card. We are also giving an ice cream coupon to students that have the cleanest bus. Encourage your child to leave all their belongings in their backpacks so that nothing is left behind. Children often remove clothing like hats and mittens, papers and projects from their bags and forget them on the floor or seat. Contest award coupons will be given out on Friday, February 16th to the two winning buses, one for the most coloring/card sheets and one for the cleanest bus in the fleet.

Please help us celebrate month and the dedicated drivers and monitors that transport your children to and from school.

Interested in Becoming a Bus Driver or Monitor?

Do you love children? Are you interested in working in your own community? We provide paid training to obtain your CDL License on a fully automatic bus. We will even let you test drive a bus to see for yourself how easy it is to drive. We currently have six open positions with training scheduled for this April and June. Benefits include health and dental insurance, holiday pay, joining the New York State Retirement System, weekends and holidays off.

If you have questions, would like to schedule a test drive or apply, please contact Mel or Mike at the transportation department, 518-654-2231, or email routing@corinthcsd.org “ Love The Bus”

Let's give a huge shout out to our CCSD Transportation Department! Thank you for all that you do for our students! Give your driver a shout out in the comments on Facebook!

Our Girls Varsity Basketball team put another "W" in the book and now move on to high stakes games. Coach Hoertkorn shared some highlights from last night:

"The Varsity girls basketball team picked up a win in the semi- finals last night against #4 seed Luzerne. It was another total team effort, and after only leading by two points at the end of the first quarter, we outscored Luzerne 29-10 in the second and third. We really stepped up our defense and held Luzerne's top scorers in check. Whitney Cameron led all scorers with 18 points. She also had 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.
Emily Dingmon followed with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Taylor Stone had a great game as well with 10 points, 3 rebounds, and an assist. Cailtyn Crossman was huge for us at the top of our press as we really increased our pressure getting tips that led to steals for the team. She had 5 points, 9 rounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
I would also like to add a special congratulations to Emily Dingmon for recording her 1,000th career rebound recently. She now has over 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds, truly an incredible achievement.
I am so beyond proud of this team who have been working so hard all year to get to this point. They play for each other and want to get better so the team is successful. It has been an honor to coach such a selfless group of athletes. We would also like to thank all the students, staff, and families who have been following our team, and filling the stands at games. We so appreciate everyone's support! Our next game is the Adirondack League Championship this Saturday 2/10 at 5pm, at Hudson Falls high school against Hartford!"
Let's fill the gym and show our Riverhawks our school spirit as they battle for the league title! Go, RIVERHAWKS!!

Our Boys Varsity Basketball Team had another exciting win last night. Coach Falkenbury shared some highlights from the game:
"Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Basketball team on their 45 to 39 win over Fort Edward Tuesday night. It was a back and forth game with both teams struggling to put the ball in the basket. The Riverhawks led 24 to 20 at halftime. They held the Forts to 19 second half points and got some key stops on defense.
Kaden Wright led the team with 15 points(13 in the 2nd half) and 10 rebounds, Braydin Stone had 12 points and 6 assists and Avery Wood added 8 points.
This was the 10th win in 11 games and puts our record to 12 and 6. The Riverhawks will host Whitehall next on Thursday or Friday. Thank you again for the continued support for the team, they appreciate it very much."
