Our Varsity Girls Riverhawks team continued their hot streak last night on the road. Coach Hoertkorn shares some game highlights:
"The Varsity girls basketball team remains unbeaten in league play at 6-0 after beating Warrensburg last night, who was also undefeated in the league going into the game. The girls were ready right from the start, and it was a total team effort.
Emily Dingmon led all scorers with 18 points. She also had 12 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists for another great all around game.
Caitlyn Crossman had 10 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. She had another great game at the top of our press pushing Warrensburg guards into traps, or forcing them to turn the ball over.
Whitney Cameron had 9 points, but was great on the defensive end anticipating where she needed to be, and contributed 4 rebounds, 6 steals, and 2 assists. Taylor Stone had 7 points, but again was also great on the defensive end causing turnovers, rebounding, and getting jump balls. She had 11 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 assist.
This was a total team effort and win, and the girls have been so locked in and put the work into the details to help the team be successful. They never care who the leading scorer is, and we often have different players stepping up in different stat categories. It is a testament to this this group of players who know what it takes to win as a team. So proud of this entire group, and looking forward to the rest of the season! Our next game is Friday in Salem at 7pm."

Congratulations, RIVERHAWKS!

Our Boys JV Basketball team put the "W" in the books this past weekend! Here are some highlights from Coach Bowe:
"The JV boys basketball beat Fort Ann on Saturday 34-24. The boys played a great team game on Saturday. Seven different players put points on the scoreboard. The boys did a great job utilizing everyone on the court. The team also had a strong performance on the defensive side of the ball. Carter Hoffman - Robarge and Tristan Lozier combined for 5 steals. They worked real well together to force a lot of turnovers and bad passes throughout the game. Please come out and support the team this Tuesday (1/9) as they take on Warrensburg at 5:30 PM."

CES began a new partnership between grade 2 students and our UPK students to promote positive relationships and a love of reading! The new "Reading Buddies" partners share their favorite books and the "big" buddies read to the younger students. What a fantastic way to promote literacy and foster community in our school!

Dear CCSD Families,
This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Prudence in our Positivity Project Social Emotional Learning curriculum. Prudence means you plan for the future and achieve your goals by making careful everyday choices.
Prudence is the ability to do the right thing for the right reason, at the right time. It’s a future-oriented way of thinking that helps a person set goals, make plans, and have the discipline to accomplish them. It is cognitive -- more a strength of the head than of the heart.
Prudence supports effective individual self-management. Whether aspiring for an athletic record, academic grade, or purchasing a car, foresight and planning are necessary. However, even with a plan, long-term goals can only be obtained by overcoming those impulses and desires that steer you away from your goals. Prudence provides the wisdom to know which character strength to leverage, at which time, to achieve your desired end state.
To practice and encourage the character strength of prudence with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2) where together you can watch a video, read a quote and talk about the answers to three questions. Have a wonderful week!

Our Girls Varsity BB team continues their hot streak! Here are some highlights from last night's game from Coach Hoertkorn:
"The Varsity girls basketball team picked up a league victory over Fort Ann last night with a great team effort right from the start. In our first game back from break the girls were ready to play, and worked together so well with every player contributing.
Emily Dingmon led all scorers with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Whitney Cameron followed with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 8 steals, and 5 assists. We have an emphasis on defense and rebounding, and last night Chloe Hall and Sage Shanahan combined for 11 rebounds, and were great on the defensive end. Sage also had 6 points, with a couple of those baskets coming off offensive rebounds. Maddie Baldes was great in transition scoring her 4 points off lay-ups. Isabella Craig and Kenadee Flint have also been great running the floor, and looking for their teammates. Isabella had 9 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
I continue to be so proud of how well the girls are playing together, and how unselfish they are as a team. They never hesitate to make that extra pass, or look for each other so the team can be successful. They care more about winning than any individual accolades, and that continues to reflect in each game's outcome. I look forward to the rest of the season! Our next game is Wednesday, at Warrensburg at 6pm."

Congratulations, Riverhawks!
