Our CCSD Counseling Team welcomed guest speakers from 4 outside programs available to students for high school. Our 8th and 10th graders learned about our CTE (Career and Technical Education) programs, Clean Technologies - Tech Smart (Early College in High School program) at Hudson Valley Community College, Early College Career Academy (P-Tech) at SUNY Adirondack and New Visions Career Exploration (in Engineering and Health Careers). The 10th graders were fortunate to have CHS senior, Belle Cook, as a guest speaker as well, sharing her experiences as a Tech Smart student at HVCC! Thank you to all of our guest presenters and to our CHS counselors for facilitating a great event to help students to explore the many options for their future careers available to our CHS students! Our students earned accolades for their behavior and questions posed to the guest speakers! Great job, students!!

Our Girls Varsity Basketball team hit the court for 2 games this weekend in a local tournament! Coach Suppes shared highlights from the tourney:
"The varsity girls basketball team participated in the Michelle Bennett Memorial Tournament at Queensbury High School over the weekend.
Friday night, they defeated Hudson Falls 41-29, with Whitney Cameron leading the way scoring 15 points and 7 assists. Sage Shanahan did a great job in the paint with 13 points and 12 rebounds, for her second double double of the season.
Saturday morning, the team had a quick turnaround and played an early game against Glens Falls. They played a tough game, and battled to the final buzzer, but fell short. Bella Craig led the team with 13 points. It was a fantastic tournament to be a part of, and the team played two quality teams early in the season that will be beneficial as the season progresses. It's always a pleasure watching these girls play, and we look forward to carrying our experiences and momentum from these early games throughout the season."

Congratulations, Riverhawks! We look forward to a fantastic season of varsity basketball! Check out a few photos from the 2nd half of the GF game! (More photos on Facebook)

Our annual Hoops for the Holidays 2024 was held on Thursday! This amazing event is hosted by the CCSD Basketball players and coaches. Our athletes participated in a foul shot for cash donations event and facilitated many activities for our young Riverhawks! There were raffles, holiday music, laughter and fun. One of the favorite events is always the Pie-A-Teacher in the face event. It did not disappoint!
The proceeds for the event fund efforts to help brighten the holidays for families in need in our community.
A huge shout out to our amazing Athletic Director, Hilary Haskell, and Varsity Head Coach, Craig Falkenbury, who coordinate this event. They model all that we teach our students in our Social Emotional Learning curriculum: Compassion, Helping Others, Kindness, Supporting Others When They Struggle and many other life skills that are part of The Positivity Project, #ChooseKindness and our Sweethearts and Heroes SEL initiatives. We are so fortunate to have your leadership!
Thank you to all of the coaches, athletes, staff and athletes who participated, donated or contributed in some way to make this event possible!
The final total with a full list of thank you acknowledgements is coming soon! Stay tuned! #CorinthisCommunity #CorinthProud

A big shout out to the CCSD Wrestling team for their community service today!
After practice, our wrestlers volunteered their time to collect donations for the food pantry around Corinth. They divided up the streets and assigned tasks to collect as many donations as possible. This was not only a fantastic team-building activity, but also a wonderful way for our team to give back to the community.

Alumni Spotlight: Class of 2002 alumnus, Nick Schkrioba, visited the Career and Financial Management classes to share information about different careers and sales and marketing.
After earning a B.S. Degree in Anthropology, he realized that it was not a match for his interests and aptitudes, and moved into a career in sales. Mr. Schkrioba engaged students with discussions about a variety of sales careers based on their interests. He also discussed different marketing strategies in the sales industry. Mr. Schkrioba shared with the class that discovering your niche in any career is the key to success. He decided to pursue a sales position as a business consultant, outsourcing human resource services to businesses all over the country. Students learned that this can be cost effective to help businesses manage their budgets.
Thank you to Mrs. Jensen and Mrs. Fay for this real-world career exploration activity. CCSD is committed to helping our students explore the many different career paths available to them for their post-graduation endeavors. Thank you to Nick for sharing his experiences and expertise with our high school students.

Dear CCSD Families,

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Kindness. Kindness means being generous to others, never being too busy to help out, and you enjoy doing good deeds for other people.

Kindness is based on the belief that everyone deserves care, attention, and compassion. Kind people think about others' needs and feelings and take action to help. They are selfless, helping others because it's the right thing to do, not for any personal gain.

People who are kind have a strong sense of duty to care for others. Their acts of kindness inspire more kindness in return.

To practice and encourage the character strength of kindness at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly: https://posproject.org/p2-for-families/ where you can watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions to enhance and support our social emotional learning lessons in the classroom.

We thank you for your support. Have a wonderful week!
