The Second Grade team had the wonderful opportunity to bring our students to a performance of “Clara and The Land of The Sweets,” an excerpt and retelling of the Nutcracker. It was the first time in a theater for many of our students.
Following the performance, students enjoyed fresh air in Crandall Park, ate lunch at Aviation Mall and bumped into Santa Claus on the way back to the bus! What a great day!

It was a great night on the court for our Girls Varsity Basketball team Friday night! Here are game highlights from Coach Hoertkorn:
"The Varsity girls basketball team picked up a league win over Argyle Friday. It was a complete team effort with every player contributing.
Emily Dingmon returned from injury to record 8 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. She has always been such a leader for us, and showed again tonight what a well- rounded player she is. It was so wonderful to have her back out there. Whitney Cameron led all scorers with 13 points and pushed the pace for us right from the start getting the ball down the court in transition.
Isabella Craig also had 8 points and is always a spark out there working hard on both ends of the floor.
Maddie Baldes scored her first basket of the season to go with 3 steals on the defensive end.
Sage Shanahan had 5 rebounds, but had a strong game overall showing her toughness and growth already in such a short time.
Is was a great game overall for the entire team. They have been working so hard every day in practice and continue to get better, and I am so proud of them! Our next game is Wednesday at Luzerne at 6pm."
Great job, RIVERHAWKS! Check out a few photos from Friday night's game. (Thank you to community member, Holly Capasso for sharing her photos!)

Some of our CHS cheerleaders were able to travel to an NCA stunt clinic to learn stunts and how to safely implement them. They worked on drills which implemented teamwork, bravery, and optimism supporting our Positivity Project SEL curriculum. The cheerleaders can't wait to show off some new stunts at the upcoming basketball games. Great job, athletes! We look forward to seeing your performances at upcoming games!

Our Modified Basketball Teams both won on Thursday!
Here are highlights for the boys from Coach Fabian:
"Congratulations to the boys modified basketball team on a 28-13 win over Hadley-Luzerne. Charlie Morey led the team with 12 points on the offensive end of the court. All of our players got quality minutes on the court to contribute to a nice win on the road. Our next game is on Tuesday when both of our modified boys teams will play in Fort Ann."

Here are highlights from Coach Cross for our girls:
"The modified girls team had a great 18-14 win against Hadley Luzerne on Thursday. A balanced offense with multiple scorers and a tough defense helped keep the lead and win the game. The Riverhawks are back in action on Tuesday at Fort Ann to try and move to a three game winning streak! " Congrats to both teams!

Our Girls Varsity Basketball team picked up the "W" last night. Coach Hoertkorn shared some game highlights:
"The Varsity Girls Basketball team picked up a win last night against Granville. After a bit of a slow start, the girls stepped up their intensity in the second half to pull away from Granville.
Whitney Cameron led all scorers with 16 points, and had 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals for a strong all around game.
Taylor Stone followed with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. She came out of halftime strong right from the start and helped lead our third quarter. She made great decisions around the basket when she had a shot, or making a great pass to a cutting teammate.
Caitlyn Crossman had another great all around game, but looked for her shot more and contributed 10 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. She did a great job around the basket, but also helping handle the ball when necessary or knowing where to move.
Kenadee Flint had a great game, especially at the defensive end leading the top of our press. She helped to force them into trap situations that led to a turnover, or slow them down. Kenadee and Riley Dumas worked well together at the top of the defense to prevent Granville from getting open shots on the outside.
It was a great team effort with different players stepping up on different nights. The girls are working so hard every day, getting used to playing together, and improving. Our next game is home, Friday at 4pm against Argyle."
Come out and cheer on the Lady Riverhawks on Friday!!!
