Family life is a very important part of life in Greece. Children often live with their parents even after they get married.
Greeks live long lives and it is thought that their varied diet of olives, olive oil, lamb, fish, squid, chickpeas, and lots of fruits and vegetables keep them healthy.
Greece has ten national parks and there is an effort to protect natural and historic landmarks. Marine parks help protect the habitats of two of Europe's most endangered sea creatures, the loggerhead turtle and monk seal.

Congratulations Mrs. Jensen for being nominated as a "Woman of Distinction." She will be recognized on June 13th by Assemblyman Simpson.
Our Sixth Graders recently went on a field trip to the Albany Institute of History and Art. The field trip supported our Social Studies curriculum, Ancient Civilizations in the Eastern Hemisphere.
While at the museum, students saw artifacts from ancient Egypt. They were also able to see two mummies that the Egyptian government has allowed the museum to have for educational purposes. In addition to the ancient Egyptian exhibit, students also took part in making "ushabtis" and were able to view paintings from the Hudson River School and the Sign of the Rabbit: The Colorful World of Hunt Slonem. After visiting the museum our students walked to the Empire State Plaza to see our capitol building and experience the sights of our state capital.

On Monday, June 3rd, 5th Graders took a field trip to Grant’s Cottage which is a National Historic Landmark located in Gansevoort, NY.
This trip aligns with 5th grade standards for ELA and Social Studies. Students spent the day learning more about where General Grant spent his final days. They studied artifacts from the time period, and took a tour of his cottage where they were able to see the furniture he used, perfectly preserved. It was a beautiful and engaging day!

Congratulations to the 24 7th grade students who were inducted into the CMS Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society recently. Membership is earned by qualifying academically and demonstrating character, citizenship, leadership and service. We are proud of you all!

Our third grade students walked to the Corinth Free Library this week and learned about all that our library has to offer! They also learned how to get a library card! Thank you to the staff for the warm welcome as we continue to strive to promote a love of reading and literacy!
