Dear CCSD Families,

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Integrity. Integrity means you are honest and speak the truth. You present yourself genuinely and sincerely.

Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is watching. People with integrity practice what they preach and maintain a consistent pattern of behavior aligned with their values. They have the courage not to follow the crowd if it means going against their beliefs. Integrity is closely aligned with the terms of honesty and authenticity. People with integrity tell the truth and have alignment in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Integrity is vital to individual growth. It is correlated with a multitude of psychological well-being measures. Harmony in your feelings, thoughts, and actions makes you better able to personally grow and achieve goals. Authenticity and a lack of pretense make you more likable and trusted by others, meaning your relationships will benefit. To practice and encourage the character strength of integrity with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you can watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.

Have a wonderful week!

Our Girls Varsity Field Hockey Team finished our regular season play at home on Friday in our annual pink game against Hoosick Falls. Here are some highlights from Coach Crombach:

"The Riverhawks fought hard in our annual pink game and despite the 4-0 loss saw some great play on the field on Friday. A big shout out to Hoosick Falls who arrived in their new custom orange “Corinth is community” jerseys in a show of their support for our community and all that we have experienced recently. Our seniors took the field one final time this homecoming night and really shined bright in their pink jerseys! Chloe Manning led the offense, playing her most aggressive game of the season. Taylor Stone stayed consistent and gave us so many great hits to charge the defense and Sydney Crombach had another great game in goal, stopping some hard hits, logging 14 saves. Despite the outcome, we celebrated our season in unity with Hoosick and our girls all danced the night away at our homecoming dance.
Wednesday we are on the road for our first sectional game in Granville at 3pm and hope to have a big crowd there cheering us on as we start our post season play!"
We are proud of our RIverhawks and thankful to Hoosick Falls for your kindness!

Our district's 2 Master Teachers, Ms. Newell and Mrs. Terry, participated in a professional learning day at SUNY Albany and Capital Coral recently. They learned about the implications of climate change and pollutants on various coral species around the world as well as cutting edge research utilizing the exoskeleton of the coral in disease research.
How fortunate we are to have 2 master teachers bringing their experiences back to their classrooms at CMS and CHS!

CHS wrapped up homecoming festivities with the annual Homecoming Dance on Friday night sponsored by the Varsity Club. See a few shout outs from Mr Bruno below:
"The homecoming dance was a success. We had over 250 high school students show up at our dance. There are a lot of people to thank that made this a successful event.
The varsity club would first like to thank Cartley Gurtler who organized all the donated food, drinks and deserts for the event that the kids received free of charge. We would also like to thank our parents who helped serve the walking tacos and the pizza throughout the whole night. We would like to thank Vested Veteran for all of the meat and toppings for our walking tacos. We would like to thank Amores for donating not only pizza and garlic knots, but also coming back later in the night to deliver chicken tenders in three different sauces.
We would also like to thank our chaperones, Mrs. Butler, Mrs. Crombach and Miss Lemelin who also stayed and helped pick up after the event. We would also like to thank our school resource officer, Deputy Hector Monge, our assistant principal, Mrs. Lawrence, and our principal, Mr. Schenone for being there at the dance. This continues to be a great and successful event and fundraiser for the varsity club. The varsity club gives out scholarships at the end of the year banquet to our student athletes who give so much to our athletic programs. Thank you to the community who helped make this happen!
Thank you to Debi Halliday for taking photos. Students will receive their photos next week in period 1 homeroom. #CorinthisCommunity Photos courtesy of Mr. Bruno

That’s the day everyone can come together – in schools, communities, and online – and send one large ORANGE message of support, hope, and unity to show that we are together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion.

It was another exciting night on the field for the Boys Varsity Soccer team as the head into postseason competition. Here are highlights from Coach Deso:

"The Argyle Scots travelled to Corinth this afternoon for an Adirondack League crossover game. The Riverhawks controlled the pace of the game for the better part of the first half, but could not find that elusive first goal.
In the second half, Corinth was able to make the necessary adjustments, and established more meaningful pressure inside the 18, but it would take almost 30 minutes before they hit pay dirt. Logan West willed his way deep into the Scot defense, and was able to find Hunter Shanahan, who would battle his way to a finish for a hard-fought Riverhawk goal. This moment ignited the Corinth offense, and with three minutes left, Sam Tangora sent a low flying free kick that connected with the sure-footed Tyler Smolinski, who would bury the insurance goal.
The Corinth Riverhawks finished with a 10-2-0 league record, and a 12-4-0 overall record, the best overall regular season record for the boys team in the entire history of the Corinth soccer program! They now turn their full attention to the sectional tournament next week. The first round game will more than likely take place on Thursday, October 19th, with a time, location and opponent revealed sometime Monday. Stay tuned, stay involved, and continue to support this outstanding group of young men as they push forward into the postseason!"

Congratulations, RIVERHAWKS! Your hard work is paying off! We wish you continued success in the post season!!

Our Boys Varsity Soccer team put another win in the book last night! Here are some great game highlights from Coach Deso:
"The Riverhawks took the field last night at Argyle with purpose and determination. After having an early misstep that would put them behind by one at halftime, these resilient young men stepped onto the pitch in the second half with a mission in mind. The team performed beautifully, with crisp touches, creating passing lanes and numerous scoring opportunities.
Five minutes in, Sean Ward and Logan West put on a technical passing clinic, which would ultimately result in Sean finding space on the end line, who would go on to deliver a crisp pass to Tyler Smolinski on the 18, sailing it to the back of the net to even the score at one. Five minutes later, Sean and Logan would continue their passing clinic, replicating the same route, but this time Sean would find an awaiting Aiden Wentworth, who would notch the second goal on the evening for the Riverhawks. Corinth remained stout on defense, and turned several would-be Argyle attacks away, with strong defensive play from Lucca Giaculli, Alex Wiseman and Michael Petteys.
Owen Baker would make some clutch saves in net to keep the Scots off the board in the second half. Sam Tangora drew a number of fouls in favor of the Riverhawks tonight with his hard-nosed play at midfield, and Hunter Shanahan made many fine runs up the line to keep the ball favorably in the Riverhawk half for the better part of the contest.
This relentless group of young men have now posted a league record of 10-2-0, and an 11-4-0 record overall, breaking all existing Corinth soccer records, and producing the finest season in Corinth boys soccer history... as a team, they have so much to be proud of!
They will now take the field one final time this Friday at 4:30pm where they will host a second game against Argyle in a crossover contest. From there, they patiently wait to see who they will take on in the first round of the sectional tournament next week- time, opponent and location to be determined.
Please continue to support this phenomenal group of young athletes... they continue to work so very hard, and their coaches, school and community are incredibly proud of all that has been achieved to date... keep it going, fellas!"

Way to go, RIVERHAWKS!!! Come out and cheer them on to keep the energy going!!!

News from our CCSD Athletics Program:
Congratulations to last week's athletes of the week.
Samantha Petteys is a senior captain on the volleyball team who runs the offense in the setting position. Sam leads the team in assists and is a top contributor to service points and aces. Her leadership during games, practices and in the classroom is noticeable. Great job Samantha!
Parker Duerr-Clark and Gage Bardin are 8th graders who both contributed to the success of our varsity golf team. Gage as the #5 golfer was undefeated this season and scored some huge points for his team this season. Parker moved up to the #3 spot and won 7 matches and tied one match. These young men show that the future is bright for our young golf team.
Reece Breheny is a member of our fall cheerleading squad. Reece shows up at every practice ready to put in the work to improve her skills. As a dedicated athlete, Reece came to our summer clinic and learned many skills that she now brings to the team. We are very happy to have such a kind and positive athlete on our team.
