Dear CCSD Families,

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Teamwork. Teamwork means you work well as a member of a group or team. You are loyal, reliable, and dedicated to helping your team achieve its goals.

Teamwork involves prioritizing group success. Those strong in teamwork help all group members succeed, committing time and resources to the group's goals. They often delay personal accomplishments to ensure the group's overall success, which fosters positive feelings and counters selfishness and egotism.

For individuals, teamwork often means deferring or delaying individual accomplishments in order to ensure that the group maintains a high level of success. Their commitment to the larger group effort makes them good teammates. The positive feelings associated with being part of a larger whole — can be highly beneficial and combat selfishness and egotism.

To practice and encourage the character strength of teamwork at home, please visit the Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly: https://posproject.org/p2-for-families/. There, you can watch a video clip together and discuss a quote and three questions related to teamwork.

We hope that you will ask your student about the lessons and discussions on teamwork this week! Thank you for your continued support!

Overall, it was a strong team effort as we kick off the season. We look forward to our next game against Glens Falls at home on Monday afternoon and hope to see you there!"

Our Boys Varsity Soccer team earned another win at home last night! Coach Deso shared game highlights from this big win:
"Granville made the long ride to Corinth this afternoon to face off in a league contest. The Riverhawks would apply immediate offensive pressure on the Horde, who would go on to convert six first-half goals. In the second half, it was more of the same, as the Corinth attack proved to be too much, adding six additional goals to complete the lopsided victory.
Scoring for the Riverhawks was spread around, with Tyler Smolinski racking up four goals on the evening, and Hunter Shanahan not far behind earning a hat trick.
Sam Tangora would net two, while Tristan Lozier and Sean Ward would each contribute a goal. Rounding out the scoring, senior goalkeeper! Owen Baker left his post in net towards the latter part of the second half to make his debut as a field athlete, scoring the Riverhawks' final goal off a sweet assist from fellow senior Lochlan Fuller.
The final score would be Corinth-12 Granville-0, with Owen Baker also earning his 4th shutout of the season (with a little help from Hunter Shanahan in net tonight :) The team is now 2-0-0 in league play and 5-0-0 overall, as they head out on the road Friday to take on the Lake George Lakers!"

Congratulations, Riverhawks and Coach Deso, Coach Baker and Coach Thompson!

Paice Murphy was in the right spot and also put one in the goal with an assist from Aubrey Lozier. Aubrey wasn't done yet! She rounded out the game with another goal in quarter four. Aubrey scored 6 of our seven goals!
The Riverhawks are on the road for a big league game on Friday against rival Granville!"

Our Varsity Golf Team continued their hot streak last evening! Here are match highlights from Coach Bruno:
"The Golf team is still undefeated, winning all six matches against Bolton on Wednesday night. Three of the matches were forfeits but they still had sectional scores to play for. Four out of our six golfers hit sectional scores led by Aiden Schurr and Parker Duerr-Clark with 41's. Cooper Philo had a 43 and Reiley Halliday had a 44. Liam Crooks won his 4th straight match and Collin Vincent barely missed with a 45 but it was his best 9 holes of the year. It was amazing to have 4 players post a sectional score as the team continues to get better each round.
This golf team is deep and talented. They have a big week coming up next week as they try to continue their undefeated season. Congratulations Team! "

Way to go Riverhawks!

Our new Modified Golf Team hit the links for the first time yesterday! Here are some highlights from Coach Waring:
"Modified golf had their first match against Lake George yesterday. The overall match ended with a tie, but players did a great job navigating a golf course they had never played before with challenging greens and narrow fairways."

Great job Riverhawks!

A big shout out to our Boys Varsity Soccer team for earning the WIN on the road last night!! Here are highlights from Coach Deso:
"The Riverhawks travelled to Greenwich for a Monday night battle under the lights! Composure, communication and patience were all solidly present throughout the contest. No one athlete was responsible for the 2-0 victory, as team play dominated the performance. Outhustling, and outshooting, while possessing the ball for the better part of the contest, these young athletes demonstrated the patience seen and expected of a veteran team.
Scoring would come in the second half, as the Riverhawks were finally able to break the Greenwich back line, with both goals scored by Tyler Smolinski, assisted by Tristan Lozier and defender Lucca Giaculli!
The team is now 1-0-0 in the league, and 4-0-0 overall, with their next game being held on Wednesday at home against Granville."

Congratulations, Riverhawks! We hope to see many fans at the home game tomorrow!!

Dear CCSD Families,

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Curiosity. Curiosity means you like exploration and discovery. You ask lots of questions because you want to learn more about anything and everything.

Curiosity is essential to our character, driving our desire for wisdom and knowledge. It keeps us engaged in stories and encourages us to try new activities or travel. Everyone experiences curiosity differently — behaviorally, intellectually, and emotionally.

People with strong curiosity are more likely to ask questions and try new things. Curiosity is a form of courage because asking questions shows we don't know something, and trying new activities risks failure. However, it's through questions and exploration that we learn and grow.

To practice and encourage curiosity at home, please visit the mobile-friendly P2 for Families: https://posproject.org/p2-for-families/ .There, you may watch a video clip together and discuss a quote and three questions related to the strength of curiosity.

The character strength for this week is embedded into our school mission statement: "The mission of the Corinth Central School, located at the gateway to the Adirondacks, is to spark lifelong curiosity in every student through inspired teaching that builds on the strengths of each student and creative partnerships so that our graduates excel in a rapidly changing world."

We hope that this week's social emotional learning curriculum will be the catalyst to initiate that spark! Have a great week and thank you for your support.
